"Purchaser's Clearing House" is my illustrated version of a song I wrote back in 1976 in collaboration with an Alabama songwriter named Marty Lyles. Marty wrote the tune; the words are mine.

Obviously, the target of its satire is a certain magazine-hawking direct-mail sweepstakes operation that has been dangling huge fortunes in all of our faces for decades.

The song has never been commercially released, and few have heard its melody beyond attendees at my slideshows, during which I usually play a tape of Marty singing it while my drawings are projected on a screen. Take my word for it: the tune is catchy!

My comic strip version was first published in Anything Goes, a 1986 benefit comic produced by Fantagraphics to raise money for its defense fund in a lawsuit.
